Viewing Direction ➺ Methodology Research for the IRREGULAR REPORT: WORK covered the period of September 2019 to September 2022 and comprised several methodologies, including: A quantitative survey of 762 Gen Zs aged 15 to 24 in the United States. From April 9, 2022, to April 18, 2022, the survey was fielded in fifty states among nationally representative samples of Gen Zs in each state. All statistics within the report, unless otherwise specified, represent the combined total population from all fifty states. In-depth qualitative interviews and ethnographies were conducted online and in person among 2,200 Gen Z participants aged 14 to 26. Sourced from our proprietary global community of Gen Zs, respondents spanned more than 30 countries and demonstrated a diverse range of economic, cultural, geographical, and political backgrounds. Gen Zs were a mix of genders and ethnicities. Research from multiple previous qualitative and quantitative studies conducted by Irregular Labs, on both a global and national level across more than 10,000 Gen Zs aged 14-26, was used as a secondary resource. An intergenerational team (Gen Z and older) executed every aspect of this study—researchers, strategists, cultural thought leaders, and academics.
